You’re the Spark
Spark a flame of love,
for the good of humankind
and watch that fire glow.

Few Americans would deny that our “United” States currently is not united in thought or mission. Protests in 2025 surged by more than 11,000 since the previous year. That’s a 133% increase compared to the first year of the last administration.
Many express concerns about our government having lost its checks and balances, and feelings of inequality and injustice. However, not everyone agrees on what is right and fair. Families and long-time friends are divided to the extent that they can no longer talk or associate with one another, and if we can’t get along with those we love, how can we make peace with strangers within and beyond our country?
Jesus said that the evil one seeks to destroy us through chaos and confusion, because we cannot survive if we are divided (Matthew 12:25). God wants serenity in families, communities, and the world as he is a god of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).
Turning the negativity around is possible, but it will take considerable effort. According to research, countering negative energy requires three times as much positive energy as there is negativity. That means that three positive actions are needed to offset every negative one. If we want a peaceful world, we have to work for it.
We begin by developing inner peace. We can do this by cultivating joy, showing signs of gratitude, and being hopeful. We meditate, pray, be still and quiet, and set boundaries with those who work against tranquility.
The peace we develop in ourselves allows us to move beyond to the people around us. We are then able to follow the call to unite and care for each other (1 Peter 3:11).
Respect is our guideline. We show respect and compassion to everyone and everything, beginning with our loved ones and friends, and then to those who need it most, including the marginalized—the poor, immigrants, elderly, sick, and beyond.
Smile. Share hugs. Offer to help a stranger. Pass on clothes and household items not in use. Contribute to food pantries. Listen rather than speak. Mentor. Nurture.
We also must oversee the care of the wonders of this planet–the wildlife, from the smallest to the greatest, the land, and the waterways.
In addition, it’s important to vote. Communicate with representatives, and speak up for what is right and what is just in a calm, yet firm way.
Since the beginning of creation, we humans have failed miserably. Yet, God’s never given up on us. He knows that we are capable of loving and caring for one another as the Lord loves us.
Imagine a beautiful, peaceful world, and then make it happen, one step at a time. We have much to gain for our our efforts. Our actions will come back to us in countless ways for generations to come.

I will be online sporadically for a few weeks due to some personal matters. I plan on responding to comments and reading fellow bloggers’ posts as often as time allows.
Until then, be safe, healthy, and happy, and know that I appreciate you and the time you spend reading, commenting, and liking my posts.
You are in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.
