Poem–Steward of All Living Things

Steward of All Living Things

I believe in a God who made me
as an integral element of creation,
as a steward of all living things,
from the smallest particles to the largest.

I am a beneficiary
of this dynamic and diverse environment
and therefore fully responsible
for its continued growth, health, and well-being.

Today’s poem and photo, from my book, Tranquility Transformation Transcendence, are published here in honor of beloved Pope Francis, who advocated for marginalized people, the poor, immigrants, and the environment. He was a man of compassion and mercy.

Please pray for this holy man’s soul, that the world heeds his message, and for our next pope to benefit the world through his words and actions.

ยฉMary K. Doyle, 2025
