Poem–Hidden Gifts

Hidden Gifts

Like the colors revealed in autumn leaves—
the vibrant red, yellow, orange, and gold—
that were deeply hidden behind the green,
that weren’t visible in the summer sun,

our most profound gifts and skills aren’t revealed
to others, or more often, to ourselves,
until needed at the right time, right place,
until circumstances call upon us.

When we reach deep down within ourselves
we find what we didn’t know existed—
resilience, perseverance, forgiveness,
patience, courage, compassion, and wisdom.

We find we’re much stronger than imagined,
both physically and emotionally.
We have much more potential than we knew.
We have so much more to offer this world.

Beautiful Mary. Each of us has so much to offer when called upon. It is up to us to chose to shine or not. Happy Wednesday Mary. Allan

You’re right, Mary. Many who are blessed with innate abilities lack motivation to take full advantage of those gifts. 😁

I love that idea that gifts are hidden and spring forth at the right time and place. Those colors are beautiful, Mary. Wow. 🧡💚

Dearest Mary, what a beautiful and deeply moving poem. Reading your words brings me so much comfort and strength as I care for my old, ailing dog, Sissi. It’s a gentle reminder that we truly find our hidden resilience and strength when we need it most. Thank you for this gift.

Talk to me. I’m curious about your thoughts and comments.
