Poem–Listen to the Wind

Listen to the Wind

Listen to the wind and the tales she tells.
She knows the secrets of love, joy, and loss.

Always on the move, traveling north to south,
south to north, east to west, and back.

Rattling the windows. Rustling through the trees.
Gliding by, dancing, swirling, and spinning.

Whispering stories of things seen and heard.
Carrying kisses blown into the wind.

Above is a poem from my book, Tranquility Transformation Transcendence. The Enchanting Promises of Public Gardens. The book offers 72 poems and 72 photos inspired by finds at three public gardens in the Chicago area. They are the kinds of poems and images we want to gaze at and ponder while curled up under a cozy blanket.

Tranquility must be the call of the universe right now. Literary Revelations Publishing House is releasing a new collection of poetry titled Tranquility: An Anthology of Haiku. The book contains haikus focusing on tranquility from more than 200 poets. I recently learned five of my haikus were accepted and will be included in this special edition.

The book will be impressive from cover to cover. In addition to so many poems centering on peace, the cover art is designed by award-winning Japanese artist Hikari, and fine art photography nestled within the book is by award-winning Japanese artist Naoki Kimura.

Chief Editor Gabriela Marie Milton of Literary Revelations is known throughout the writing community for her support and encouragement to writers of all levels. Once under her wings and a part of the publishing house’s family, writers find their books rated at the top on Amazon.

I’ll keep you posted on the release of this new anthology. The art is sure to be stunning and the haikus relaxing and inspiring. I’m certainly looking forward to diving into a copy.

A lovely poem, Mary, and congratulations on the inclusion in the upcoming book. That’s awesome! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Thank you, Kevin. The book should be good. I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s haikus. Do you write haikus, Kevin? I don’t remember seeing any on your blog.

      1. Kevin

No, I do not. I have never in my life even attempted it. I think it’s a bit too far outside my wheelhouse πŸ˜„

        1. Mary K. Doyle

You’d be great at it, Kevin. In my opinion, a good haiku uses its few words (5, 7, 5 syllables) with a twist or punch, maybe at the end. You do this in your long poems. Haikus are concise.

          1. Kevin

I think it’s the structure part that I am most leery of. I tend to think more free form, so I don’t know that I am a good fit for that style. I think that’s why I hold back on attempting them.

    2. GraceoftheSun

      Me too. So excited.πŸ’•πŸ₯°πŸ’•
