Four Reflective Poems

In keeping with reaching this special point in my life, following are four poems of reflection.

The Mirror Knows
I think Iโ€™m the same,
then I look in the mirror.
Where did that girl go?

*

Life Scars
Stress, wrinkles, and scars
from so many challenges,
but still a good life.

*

Stronger from Struggles
Stronger from struggles.
Wiser from the twists and turns.
Humble from failure.

*

More
More memories than plans for the future.
More prayers for the dead than for the living.
More miles already tread than roads ahead.
The reality of a life long-lived.

More completions than unresolved issues.
More lessons learned than errors repeated.
More satisfaction than disappointment.
The reality of a life well-lived.

More appreciation than resentment.
More friends and colleagues than adversaries.
More pleasure and contentment than sorrow.
The reality of a life of joy.

More moments to cherish with loved ones.
More hugs, laughter, and stories to be shared.
More living and inhaling lifeโ€™s fragrance.
The reality of savoring now.

      Thank you.

  2. Looking for the Light

I have your Rosary book but have not started, yet it makes me happy at it sits on my footstool in front of me. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Thank you! My son did the artwork. May I ask what you paid for the book and was it what you expected? I see some crazy listings on Amazon for my book. If you ever want one, I can help you.

      1. Looking for the Light

The cover work is great it drives home what the book is focused on which is what you want. The title and sub title are perfect. I think it was around $13, you’re not making much but you’re making a difference. I went straight to your book without problems, but I knew your face and a bit about you so I didn’t look at other listing. I’m a pro at Amazon, it has made a huge difference in my life for its ease. I read a book years ago about Mary Magadilan, spelling wrong, it changed me. It was written from a different slant, almost like she looked like a mentally ill person, but once you read on, you realize she is a human who was extremely close and important to Jesus, she washes his feet, she saw him first after the Resurrection, she was someone I can admire and she walked next to the son of God. She sticks with me. Do any of your books talk about her life? I haven’t thought about the book in years, I could not begin to remember the name but it was perfect for people who are put off by religion at first sight. ๐Ÿ™‚

I haven’t written about Mary Magdalen, but you are right, she is fascinating. A lot of writers, including biblical, mix her with other women. Have you watched the series, Chosen? It took me a few episodes to get into it, but then I loved it. Mary is featured in there.

          1. Looking for the Light

I’ve never heard of it, what channel or streaming? Sounds right up my alley, my hubby not so much but that’s not my prob. I’ll watch it in my office or on computer. She is a woman we can all look up to, she served and was created equal. There is so much to be explored in her life. She is just important in the Bible to me.

          2. Mary K. Doyle

Netflix has 8 episodes, I saw most of the seasons on Amazon Prime Video. There were some new ones in the theater. Perhaps they will be available online soon. Perhaps you can watch through this link:

          3. Looking for the Light

I’ve just watched The Shepard Boy, WOW!!!!!

          4. Mary K. Doyle

I haven’t seen that. I will check it out.

          5. Looking for the Light

It’s the story of the first Christmas when Jesus was born. Very moving and I look forward to watching the rest. I watched on my computer, it was free after signing up. They do have a place to donate and I will do that gladly. Thanks for sharing the info with me, it’s just what I need right now. ๐Ÿ™‚

          6. Mary K. Doyle

  15. Pooja G

I really enjoyed these poems, especially “Life Scars.” Now that I’m almost thirty I’m starting to see more grey hairs and small forehead lines which I hated at first but now see as battle scars.

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Those grey hairs will be accented by lines and wrinkles in the not-so-distant future. Thank you for your feedback, Pooja.

      1. Pooja G

        My pleasure.
