Poem–Welcoming You in My Dreams

Welcoming You in My Dreams

In my dreams

you draw me to you,
hold me close,
whisper tender words,
and bathe me in kisses.

United with you
I know how it feels
to be truly loved.
You’re always welcome

in my dreams.

My husband died 7 years ago. The nights he comes to me in my dreams remind me that he is always near.

What a deeply tender and moving poem, 🤍 The words beautifully capture how love can continue to live beyond physical presence and how cherished memories can find their way back to us in the quiet of our dreams.

There is something especially touching about the thought that, after seven years, your husband still finds a place beside you in those dream-filled nights. The poem carries both the ache of loss and the comfort of enduring love, without needing many words.

That’s a great point, Willie. I do believe that love never leaves us. I see that with an aunt I visit. She is in memory care, knows no one’s name, but she knows she loves me and I her.

There’s such comfort woven through these few lines, Mary. 🌙 To be held, welcomed, and loved even in dreams is a blessing many long for. Seven years on, and the connection stays close that says everything about the love you shared. Sending you a warm hug. 💛 — Khadija ✨

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Thank you for your insight and kind words, Khadija. I am blessed to be aware of these encounters. I believe our loved ones remain close, but many people are not aware. It’s more challenging to be conscious of our passed loved ones presence these days because our minds are difficult to quiet.
