Poem–i am

i am
by Mary K. Doyle

i am
singing hymns of praise,
reading words of revelation,
and lighting candles of hope.

i am
praying under the mantel of our mother,
resting beneath the wings of angels,
and walking with the saints.

i am
the daughter of the Father,
sister of the Son,
and shadow of the Spirit.

i am
the princess of the King,
friend of the Savior,
and temple of the Sanctifier.

i humbly bow down to
the great I AM.

Beautiful poem and reading, Mary. I love the ending. Yesterday, I read in Exodus about God’s revelation to Moses, when He said that He was “I AM.” Such perfect timing, my friend.

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Isn’t that kind of timing amazing, Edward? God is–not was or will be. He’s always present.

      1. Edward Ortiz

Absolutely, and you’re right—He is. Thank you for that important correction, my friend.

    Beautiful! 🙏🏻💛
The repetition of “I am” gently dissolves the self until it finally rests in the great I AM. Humble, whole, and held.
A prayer that doesn’t just speak of belief, but breathes it. 🙏🏻
