Book Review–Jade’s Broken Bridge

From time to time, it’s good to read about topics we normally don’t choose. The variety opens the world to us and helps us understand situations and lifestyles we otherwise would know little about.

Jade’s Broken Bridge, by Michele Lee Sefton, is one of those genres I wouldn’t typically choose to read. The story centers on a young woman who goes by the stage name of Jade and decides to take work as a dancer in men’s clubs to raise money for a college education. The gripping tale takes us through Jade’s travels, romantic relationship, heartache, the sisterhood of dancers, and the claws of addiction.

Sefton’s masterful writing draws readers in emotionally to ride the waves of Jade’s struggles and successes. This is one of those stories where readers no longer are in their personal reality but rather the world Sefton’s masterfully created. We can’t help but hang in there to learn if our heroine achieves her goal and the life of which she dreams.

    Wonderful review, Mary. I recently read it, and it’s an amazing story. I typically don’t read fiction, but the ones that are based on true stories always pull me in. I really enjoyed Jade’s story, and I’m glad I read it.

    Impressive review. I would be very mildly curious as to how semi autobiographical it might be. The answer wouldn’t color my view of the book or the author. I do know that she loves to dance and beyond that, my knowledge is non-existent.

      The novel is based on reality, but as you know, writers of novels add to the story to make it dramatic.

    We believe it is essential to read books from a genre you would never typically read. We just read a fantasy romance novel. We had a hard time finishing it, but we managed to do so.
