Poem–Embellishing the Forest

Embellishing the Forest

Mother Nature
embellishes the winter forest,
to dress a dreary pallet,
of branches from top to bottom,
with strokes of white, fluffy flakes
in delicate, lacey patterns.

Pathways are covered
to present a clean slate
for humans and wee creatures
to add their personal touches
of prints in various sizes.
Masterpiece.

  22. gustavo_horta

    Lindíssimo!!!

    1. Mary K. Doyle

Does it ever snow in Brazil, Gustavo?

      1. gustavo_horta

        Good afternoon

Here in Brazil it is extremely rare for it to snow. Only a few cities in the highest southern regions of the country show snow in some years, once every 3 or 4 years. Big hug.

        1. Mary K. Doyle

          Hugs to you!

great scene-setting opening; a lovely write, Mary; we don’t get snow down under, except in the Alps —

  27. Kym Gordon Moore

Ahhhhh…beautiful my dear Mary! I have a post scheduled for tomorrow I think, and oh what an inspiration we get from Mother Nature and her wintry mood swings! 😜🥶🤭 Thanks so much for sharing my dear! Love, hugs, and smooches! 🥰💖😘

    1. Mary K. Doyle

You have the right, my friend. Mother Nature sure has been moody. Today it is 9 degrees but we have a 40 degree day coming.

      1. Kym Gordon Moore

OMG, 9 degrees Mary? That’s hard for me to process girl. 🥶😲🥶 All I can say is button-up buttercup! 🧣🧥🧤 Stay safe and stay warm! 🔥

        1. Mary K. Doyle

LOL. We have the proper clothing for the weather, so we do bundle up–and walk quickly! Love to you, my friend.

          1. Kym Gordon Moore

I get it Mary. I think, however, I’ll let you all keep that type of precipitation in your neck of the woods. After hearing your testimonial, honey chile, I’m good with our current highs in the 41 degree range! 😜🥶😝

          2. Mary K. Doyle

Hahaha. Come on up North, dear Ms. Kym. I’ll make you some hot chocolate. Love you!

          3. Kym Gordon Moore

Mary, as much as I love you girlfriend, I think I will take my cup of hot chocolate right here. 🤣😜😂 But thanks for the offer! Hugs and smooches! 🤗☕😘💖😍

  38. Krisloudell

Your poem is absolutely beautiful! You’ve captured the serene magic of a winter forest so vividly—I could almost feel the crisp air and hear the quiet crunch of snow underfoot. I love how you describe Mother Nature as an artist, ‘embellishing the winter forest’ with delicate, lacey patterns. It’s such a lovely way to reflect on the beauty of a snowy landscape.

The idea of pathways being a ‘clean slate’ for both humans and creatures to leave their prints adds a wonderful touch of connection between nature and life. Your words remind me to slow down and appreciate the artistry of winter. Thank you for sharing this poem—it brought a sense of peace to my day!
