Part of the goal to present stories, poems, and photos relevant and interesting to my followers is to examine what was “liked” in the past. This blog is going on its 13th year, but it wasn’t until the last couple of years that I began posting regularly. Older posts may have been of interest at the time but didn’t attract readership. And my audience has changed, as well. So, I believe it best at this point to look at 6 months at a time and a year overall.
In 2024, 41 posts on Midwest Mary received at least 200 likes, 17 of which were stories, 13 were poems, and 11 were photos. Twelve of these posts received more than 250 likes, 7 of which were poems. This tells me that the variety is working and poetry and photos are of interest (which I’d questioned) in addition to general stories.
The most “liked” post in 2024 remains to be the one that includes an image from Kevin’s blog, The Beginning at Last. It also has the most comments at a striking 168. Kevin offers images on Thursdays that are free to use and should be posted by the following Tuesday with a pingback to his blog.
I love this image and understand the attraction to it and the poem. It’s my all-time favorite of Kevin’s creations. I think that fellow writers can identify with it and see themselves as the writer on the bench.
Here are the top 10 posts from Midwest Mary for 2024 with the amount of likes as of December 31. Are any of these your favorite?
