Honestly, I don’t think so. I had people who encouraged me to keep going, but not necessarily who were nurses. 😊
I think we move around so much today it may be more difficult to support someone. May your day be especially happy, sweet Laura.
I hope yours is too, Mary 😊 and luckily I have some mentors in mediumship, so that always helps 🙏 it’s not my career but it’s a path I chose to pursue in a way, so it’s always nice to think of it. Thanks again as always for your kind words ❤️
You never know what comes of your mediumship. We venture into all kinds of things we never planned. And I would think that field benefits from a mentor. Love to you.

I was mentored and mentored others in my profession. This reflects my experience so well Mary.
That is awesome, Maggie. When I was writing profiles for the Chicago Tribune, I found successful people had great mentors, and then, like you, they turned around and mentored. I mentor but didn’t have any in my writing career.

My seventh grade teacher, Mrs. Hurst, really encouraged my writing, and I’ll always be grateful to her. But the best, as far as poetry goes was my mentor, independent study coach, and thesis advisor at Bennington College, Mary Oliver. I feel so blessed for my time with her and I learned so much.
At one point when my thesis was in progress, she said to me “You are writing for me. You need to write for yourself.”
I’ll never forget those words.
And you? Who sparked that joy in you Mary?
What!!!!! Your mentor was Mary Oliver? Dorothy, she is my favorite poet. OMG. What a blessing. I had little bits of encouragement along the way, but no one was a true mentor in my career. Family and friends were more so on life issues. I can’t get over – Mary Oliver!
I had to pinch myself every time I walked into her office!
