Poem/Limerick–Walk to Nowhere

The origin of the limerick is debatable but we typically associate it with Irish storytelling. Most often, the verses are nonsensical, fun, and comical. Although, we also have seen it written as a prayer and found in the works of Shakespeare. The rhythm follows the pattern AABBA with the As having a few more syllables than the Bs.

In honor of the season of St. Patrick, I leaned into my Irish roots to present you with the following limerick.

-o-

Walk to Nowhere

This lady on a treadmill would walk.
She would get on the phone, and sheโ€™d talk.
It’s true, she went nowhere,
but the workout was fair,
so, it wasnโ€™t too much that sheโ€™d balk.

Thank you, Rachel. I can’t talk for long due to nerve damage to my vocal cords. But I can do the little verses. Have the best day, Rachel.
