Poem–In the Name of Peace

In the Name of Peace

How did it begin?
Who hurt who?
When will it end?
What will it take?

The endless cycleโ€”
revenge, resentment,
retaliation,
hatred, anger

Loss on both sidesโ€”
loss of childhood,
families, friends,
education, employment

Massive destructionโ€”homes, communities,
priceless art, historic sites,
the earth, water, air

Sounds of terror
Smells of death
Sights of devastation
Haunting memories

Only solution
forgiveness, compassion,
 understanding, justice,
compromise, tolerance

Do we have the courage?
Are we capable of attaining
that level of humanity
in the name of peace?

It’s what we pray for, right Sandy? And we believe all things are possible.

This is very well written! Have you ever wondered why we suffer in the first place? And if the world will ever be free of pain, suffering, and death?
